CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 17, 2016 … Roby Commercial has been selected to build a boutique entertainment and dining venue, Queen Park Social. Roby Commercial will transform the 18,000-square-foot warehouse built in 1962 into a dynamic, modern gathering place for owners Joe Lariscy and Reid Olsen. Located at 4125 Yancey Road across the street from The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery in South End, Queen Park Social will offer a full bar/restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, a stage for live music, private rooms for events, eight, 10-pin string bowling, life-size board games and table and court shuffleboard.

“Our vision is a place that stresses social interaction over social media,” said Joe Lariscy of Queen Park Social. “At Queen Park Social, friends old, new and not-yet-met will gather and connect. We’ll accomplish that through a flavor-filled selection of food and drinks, a variety of games that surprise and delight, and providing exceptional personal service that will redefine what going out for a good time means.”

One thing familiar to long-time Charlotte residents at Queen Park Social will be the iconic Queen Park Cinema sign. It stood high above South Blvd. for more than 50 years at the site of the now Scaleybark light rail station. Earlier this year, Queen Park Social won a competition sponsored by Historic Charlotte with a plan for the best re-use for the sign. Its new home is less than a half-mile from where it first stood in the 1960s until just a few years ago.

Roby Commercial will start immediately to transform the space, with completion expected early next year.

“Creating Queen Park Social will combine our expertise in renovating historic buildings for new and unique uses with attention to detail and commitment to excellent craftsmanship,” said Matt Young, general manager and director of business development for Roby Commercial. “When it is complete, Queen Park Social is going to be a modern environment that pays homage to and celebrates simpler times.”
